PaperScan 1.8.1 - Windows 8

I got a new computer with Windows 8 loaded on it and now paperscan home edition 1.8.1 will not work. I can scan but when it goes to complete the scan image to the left side of the paperscan program it does not render the scan image. I just get a blank screen. Can someone help me? I can provide additional data if necessary to help me resolve this issue.
