It seems that paperScan has some problems to grab bitmap from your device driver.

You have first to save the scanned documents. To do that just click the save button (see screenshot). Then you will be prompted to select a destination directory. I hope this helps!

You should check that you have installed latest TWAIN driver of the scanner.
If the problem persists, you can try to use another Data Source Manager as explained on this thread: twain-acquisition-issues-t214.html
