Trial version limitations

I downloaded the Pro version of Paperscan this morning and installed it. It spotted my Fujitsu fi-5750c immediately so I set about scanning a test. The documents I wish to scan are the pages of a glossy magazine, 11x17inches in size and full colour. I removed the staples so that I could scan the pages in duplex mode after which I will pass the output to a specialised program to be split into 36, letter size pages and re-ordered before saving as a PDF.
The software first asked me to choose the scanning conditions and I was intrigued by the simplicity of the scanning interface - first rate.
I pressed the acquire button and the scanner quickly fed 3 pages before displaying the first scanned page. At this point it halted and asked me to register the software. Since I do not wish to do this until I am satisfied that it will suit my requirements, I cancelled the request. This resulted in a static display of a single page with none of the controls active - I couldn't even rotate the page to the correct, horizontal format for viewing.
The page I saw had been *very* acurately deskewed and the borders appeared to have been cleaned up to a quite astonishing standard, but I need to see the performance over at least a set of pages. I'm perfectly happy to have the pages watermarked as a trial, but I must see a complete file before I decide to buy.
Is this behaviour what you intended for the trial, or is my installation misbehaving in some way?
