It's most probably because of the upgrading software itself rather than the firmware, having the most up to date software is very important anyway, especially with old hardware that has not been designed for the operating system it now used on. Certain features or capabilities may not work as expected (or may not work at all).
As said on the Kodak's website, you should contact them to know what to do in that kind of case, I'm sure they have a workaround for that.

We have the latest firmware version now. I am still getting the same results, is there any chance I am missing some settings on your software?

I don't think so, did you switch the TWAIN version as I advised?

OK so back with TWAIN 2.2, you can try to disable the capabilities detection (it's on the same tab, just beneath the TWAIN version) but if it doesn't work either, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do.

Well that doesn't work either. You don't know of anyone else using Kodak I610 scanner and that the software works? We have 3 or 4 machines that we would like to use your software on.

No we don't. It's old and discontinued hardware and because of the price of this equipment, the specific FireWire interface card and the fact that it is almost impossible to find nowadays, we won't be able to find out why it is not working.
