[Virtual Barcode Reader] not working after Win 10 install

Post by rfmarves » Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:52 am

Hello,

I found the Virtual Barcode Reader today and it promises to do exactly what I've been looking for a while. However, I can't get it to work.

I downloaded and installed it, but nothing happens when attempting to run it.

Downloaded version says: 1.2.0 (May 24th 2019)
My OS is Windows 10 Education Version 1903, Build 18362.116

After installing the software, it shows up in the start menu. When I try to execute, nothing happens (no system tray icon, no window, not even an extra process...) I have attempted to run with Win 7 and Win 8 compatibility modes. I have ran it as administrator with each test, as well as ran as a regular user. I have also done uninstall/reinstall with reboots. So far, there is no change in the behavior.

Could I be missing some dependency? What could I do to get it working?

Thank you!

Thanks! Worked wonderfully now. Excellent software!! I very frequently receive images of barcodes I need to scan. So far, I've needed to type the numbers that come with the barcodes, but now... I can scan it!!

Thanks again.
